Here are two applets I wrote to implement facilitate the teaching of some mathematical concepts. These applets have been used as instructional devices in Mathematics courses at Birmingham Southern College. The first applet implements various Polynomial Interpolation methods, along with a Least Square Method for closest fit curves. The concept builds upon the idea of basis functions(i.e. basis functions for a vector/function spaces) to produce an interpolation. Simply put, it draws curves through any given points using a variety of methods.
The second applet provides an interactive implementation of the Topology Cut and Paste Method. With this applet it is easy to simplify planar diagrams of compact surfaces.
