The Connecting the Dots applet is a web based java applet that will construct various interpolations for a set of input points. It is flexible and provides both graphical representations and formulas for the interpolations.
The applet approaches each interpolation methods from a Vector Space perspective, showing how various basis functions can be used to create an interpolating function.
The applet demonstrates the following methods:
I have provided a step by step graphical tutorial that gives an explanation of the various parts of the applet. This tutorial includes screenshots!
There is a description of the various interpolation methods.
Also we have some more examples with graphics showing the applet in action.
The applet runs best when a recent version of the Java Plugin is installed. Please contact me with any problems or suggestions for the applet.
